Games & Fundraising Day - Sat 3rd May 2025
Saturday 3rd May was truly a wonderful day, where many of us gathered for the AOF Games & Fundraising Day. Wow where do we begin, the event started with participants randomly selected to one of the four groups - Blue, Red, Yellow and Green. Each group was required to select a Captain and Team Name, and points were awarded for the most creative team name.
With team competitive spirits at an all-time high, the games began with ‘March in the Box’, where contestants were blindfolded. It was hilarious to see the contestants' reactions when the blindfolds came off — some well outside the marked box area!.
Roll on game two!! - ‘Stacking ball game ‘. Contestants stacked cups to build a tower, placed the ball on the top cup, raced to throw the ball in a bucket. This time driven event put contestants’ athletic skills to a test.
The favourite ‘Egg and spoon race’ followed next, however this game had an additional twist - a relay style. The contestants raced away to the finish line without dropping their eggs.
Team positions changed frequently on the scoreboards, with teams competing to attain more points.
Musical chairs was the perfect way to close out the games, with carefully selected music by the DJ, filled with laughter while contestants danced away. The blue team gained extra points from a cleverly positioned chair.
We paused for a break to continue to sell more refreshments and raffle tickets. A much-needed breather for the contestants.
Back in full swing for the Auction of Items and presenting Raffle prizes - which included a beautiful decorated hamper, 1-1 Make-up session from the award winner MAC, Personal Hairdresser, Air Fryer, and many more items.
Congrats to the winning Blue Team, who earned the most points and were awarded medals and chocolates to celebrate their success.
We thank Jesus for making this day possible, and we are deeply grateful to all the participants, donors, and supporters in every capacity. Together, we raised approx. £900 that will go towards mentor training, venue hire, DBS checks, and other essential services.
